Marketing to Minorities
Challenge:
Advertising Hispanic and Ethnic brands is a challenge to large drug chains because the product is not in all stores and therefore they can't advertise in the weekly circulars.
Two Part Solution: - To improve in-store traffic - created an attractive quarterly publication containing information and special saving coupons on the Ethnic products. Each Ethnic store received 200 publications in a specially designed holder that was displayed in the their Ethnic beauty care section. All design, printing and distribution was handled by Cosmetic Promotions, Inc.
- To gain NEW customers, CosPro Agency produced a targeted sampling program where our street teams attend the local ethnic festivals and events and hand out sample bags with coupons that drive the consumer back into the store.
Results:
Over 100,000 bags have been handed out in 10 states with above-average coupon redemption.

Marketing to Teens
Challenge:
Reaching teens and getting them to shop at drug chains has been difficult for most retailers.
Solution 1:
Create events in and outside of the store that are geared only to 15-19 year old females to draw them into the stores. The "Glam Camp" program offers sampling at teen events and direct marketing on college campuses where we distribute a customized bag filled with samples, coupons, and the opportunity to win prizes.
We also customized a college scholarship sweepstakes where we reached over 20,000 college students with an organza bag filled with samples, coupons and entry forms as well as placing ads in college newspapers. Our sweepstakes facilitation is complete - everything from inception to prize distribution is handled internally.
Results:
The coupon resulted in nearly double the usually redemption rate.
Solution 2:
Created an in-store Back-to-School program that enhanced the Back-to-School endcap by providing a teen magazine tie in, website and gift with purchase mail in offer. Our special direct rebate program allows consumers to place their rebate through the normal store system but get a customized rebate or gift from Cosmetic Promotions, Inc that includes coupons for future purchases.
Results:
A recent gift-with-purchase rebate program for teens at a major drug chain resulted in the largest redemption ever for that chain.

Training Session Canceled
Challenge:
Drug chain's annual Cosmetic Supervisor meeting cancelled. How to get 109 Supervisors all over the U.S. trained?
Solution:
Cosmetic Promotions worked with 50 beauty vendors to create a bi-lingual "Beauty Launch Training Manual." This manual was designed so that EACH store would have a reference book. The kits were sent to the District Offices along with "pass around product" in time for the Cosmetic Supervisor's training sessions with their district beauty advisors.
In addition, Cosmetic Promotions, Inc created a training presentation and conducted conference call training sessions so that the Cosmetic Supervisors were prepared to train the Beauty Advisors.
Results:
The program was a huge success and the books will be repeated for each year. Return to top
